what ever happened to Freedom of Speech?
Greg Olsen
Don Imus
In the wake of the entire Don Imus controversy, where he called the Rutgers womens b-ball team a somewhat derogatory term, a new controversy comes out.
Greg Olsen, first round pick for the Chicago Bears was involved with a pretty demeaning rap. Now the media wants to posterize it and its deja vu again.
Why the hell does everyone care so much? If you look at all of these controversies, the only person ACTUALLY affected is the person who expressed themselves freely. In the case of the womens b-ball team, they were merely offended. For something so minuscule, a huge event must occur. It is only wasting peoples time. The only people that care have nothing else better to do. These are the people that are waiting for someone to mess up and so that they can take away their respect and possibly even assets ( money ).
If you look at the Greg Olsen event -> He made a rap about women when he was 19 and in college. Now people dont want him to play for the bears because of a lack of character. WTF?
HE WAS 19. Do yo remember the days of 19 when you made tons of mistakes and you were just yourself? Since when did our youth have to watch out for everything and make good decisions so that they wont haunt them and surface in their adult years? Youth are what they need to be. Dumb and stupid. Thats part of the charm though. What will happen if we scrutinize every decision our youth makes? All I can see is that it will decrease creativity. People will be forced to think inside the boundaries in fear of getting scrutinized.
When will people shape up and actually care about the issues and event that TRULY affect them?
I say give Don Imus his job back.
I say, Greg Olsens rap was just that, a rap. So what. Judge him when he gets on the field. Not what he did in his past.
